Travis Ager began working at Narsi in February 2016 as a breakfast attendant at the Homewood Suites located between Durham and Chapel Hill and has experienced exceptional career growth ever since. Prior to joining the Narsi team, most of his work experience was in the food and beverage industry; however, his work ethic, sociable personality, and passion for serving guests led him to excel into new roles in the hospitality world.
“I like pleasing our guests and seeing them happy. I’ve always been a people-person. I get to see new people every day and make them smile. It’s a fun job, honestly,” said Travis.
Shortly after he began working with us, Travis switched roles to become Narsi’s very first Guest Service Ambassador in 2019. After successfully leading a service-focused hotel team, he earned the opportunity to become our Operations Manager at Home2 Suites by Hilton Durham/Chapel Hill where he’s excelled since 2020. Because of his hard work and passion, Travis is currently on track to becoming General Manager.
“You wouldn’t expect for someone who was just a breakfast attendant to be managing a hotel. Narsi gives you the opportunity,” he mentioned.
One of the reasons why Travis excelled so quickly in his career is because of his growth-oriented mindset. He always strives to be the best version of himself. For example, as soon as we mention opportunities for promotion, he begins studying books on leadership, sales practices, and management while also encouraging current and prospective employees to adopt self-starter behaviors.
“You need to have drive and show that you mean business,” he said. “It’s about going the extra mile. You may be a front desk agent, but if you see something on the ground, don’t call someone. Pick it up. Show that you care about the property and that you’re not just working to get paid.”
Travis truly exemplifies this phrase that Narsi leadership has coined: “Care for the business so the business can care for you.”
Other than his exceptional work ethic, Travis also arrives at work each day strengthening our value of family. He makes a point to attend our team appreciation outings, share about his adorable two-year-old son, and treat the entire staff with kindness and respect. Staff and guests can always tell that Travis truly enjoys his job and is an irreplaceable part of the Narsi family.
“Every day I’m excited to come to work. I’ve never been in a company that treats you like family as soon as you get the job,” said Travis.
